Doug has built his training skills and riding abilities over a lifetime of horsemanship. Course One ~ Liberty Work
What you will learn in course one...
How to work your horse in the round pen without adding stress or injury. Safely turn an aggressive and disrespectful horse into a willing partner. Learn how to stop horses from pinning their ears at you, biting, kicking, and other dangerous and disrespectful behaviour. Establish and maintain leadership. Develop respect, trust and a willing relationship by gaining control of your horses direction, speed, stop and turn. Build confidence in you and your horse. Open a line of communication with your horse preparing him for future training. Enhance your feel, timing and coordination. This being essential for good horsemanship and communication. What you will learn in course two...
Teach your horse to yield his face from a light command, preparing him for collection when riding him. Teach your horse to yield to his hips, then shoulders to a light command, preparing them for softness when riding him. Establish and maintain leadership on the halter, this will be easier after the liberty course one. Enhance your communication skills, to a better relationship and understanding. Learn techniques to discipline your horse without adding fear or resentment, for undesirable behaviour, like biting, kicking, rearing, striking, pinning his ears at you, won't stand still to be groomed, tacked and mounted, won't accept farrier, and dewormer or clippers. Teach your horse to isolate his feet, giving you more body control. Further your understanding of horse psychology and improve your ability to rread and understand your horse. Course Three ~ Under Saddle
What you will learn in course three...
Yield face, hips and shoulder to a light command from the saddle. Maintain leadership under saddle. The ability to discipline your horse for undesirable behaviour such as bucking, rearing, rushing off, spooking, kicking, biting or bolting. Have your horse softly steer from your eyes.
